Fables always have talking animals in them.
Fables always end with a moral a few lines below the story in italics.
All fables are fantasy. (talking animals, remember?)
Each fable has a picture describing it next to it.
Fables can be funny.
Fables can be hard to understand because the author may write it a different way than you are used to.
