A mystery book is a fiction novel that has a problem, or mystery, to solve. They are solved by deciphering and finding clues.

A mystery book...

• always has a mystery to solve which is usually solved by the main character
• sometimes has a good guy and a bad guy
• has clues that can sometimes lead you to the wrong person/place
• the mystery in the book starts in the beginning
• can lead you to believe a certain thing, but then it changes or twists
• has LOTS of horror
• can leave you hanging with many questions
• is always solved
• can have different settings
• has good beginnings and endings, or "hooks" and "punches"
• lots of suspense
• most are fantasy fiction
