Fantasy Fiction or Modern Fantasy
Note: Certain images and text are linked. If it's bold, it usually means it's a link.
Fantasy fiction is a fiction story with fantasy elements, such as fairies, dragons, unicorns, wizards, magic, etc.
Harry Potter is an example of fantasy.
Some examples of fantasy fiction are:
talking animals
magical worlds
strange creatures
talking inanimate objects
levitation or floatation used by anything that can't normally do so
flying humans
animals with weaponry
lightning bringing an object to life
made-up languages
transformation
strange plants
any living thing walking on water
curses
Fantasy isn't just fantasy. In fact, it has "branches", too.
Some branches include:
horror, as vampires or anything with the prefix were- don't exist
fairy tales, as fairies and witches don't exist
ghost stories, as ghosts don't exist, although some disagree
Some fantasy books are part of a series. Some series are:
Harry Potter
Magic Tree House
Time Warp Trio
Time Warp Trio
Captain Underpants, seriously
Lord of the Rings
Of course, there are more, but I want to get further.

This was the start of a crazy, yet funny, book series.

This is the most scrumpdiddlyumptious book you'll ever find!
Classic fantasy that is still in good taste. It's been made into a movie...twice! Clicking on this image will send you to a selection of games on the site of the second movie.
There is also a sequel (see below).
Fantasy fiction books are sometimes turned into movies. Here are some slated for release sometime this year:

Part Two is slated for release in 2011
original book by JK Rowling
original book was not told in 2 books
Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief

Fear Street (series) ↓
Twilight (series)
This is one of R.L. Stine's horror book series.

Goosebumps
Goosebumps Horrorland (series)
Reader Beware! You Choose the Scare! (series)
Goosebumps (series)
Back to fantasy; sometimes, a fantasy book ends up with a sequel, sometimes a prequel! Some sequels were so successful, a third book arrived, which meant one word...series. Other times, a series is planned, so the author starts working on the next book right after the previous one is released. Some fantasy sequels are:
New Moon (sequel of Twilight)
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (sequel of Harry Potter and the Sorcorer's Stone)
The Twin Towers (sequel of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring)
The second Harry Potter book.
If you click on this image, you will see a selection of Harry Potter games that you can play.
