Mysteries are a type of fiction story with a major problem, usually something mysterious. There is usually a problem trying to be solved by the protagonist(s). There are also always antagonist(s) in mysteries or something that gets in the protagonist's way like a sort of obstacle the protagonist(s) must overcome. There are also sometimes minor conflicts in the story before the major conflict.
There are many characteristics and things of mysteries have in them. Some of them are:
clues
suspense
villains
they are mostly in 1st person
have spooky places like graveyards, abandoned houses,etc.
most mysteries are solved by the end, but some "leave you hanging"
sometimes mixed with horror
there are minor mysteries within the major mystery
the end of chapters leave you hanging a lot
